New York based Artists’ Health Insurance Resource Center (AHIRC) has a mission to make quality, affordable health insurance and health care available to every artist in the United States. Over the past 10 years they have created a rich database of over 4,000 heath insurance plans, health care providers, initiatives, and related resources throughout the country.
As AHIRC continuously updates and adds new information resources, their website, www.ahirc.org, needs to reflect all of the changes. Users should be able to find the right publications that fit their unique situation, location, and health care needs. However, accessing the information should be done quickly without training or confusion.
To meet this need OHO designed and built a search solution using Drupal and “faceted search.” Faceted search supports organizing data and documents into categories and also enables users to view the categories and drill-down for deeper viewing. Information resources can also be located by a search through a familiar search box interface. AHIRC’s taxonomy or information structure organizes across the 50 states and several dozen health care and insurance categories.
